Wolf Pack Sign Forward Jean-Philip Chabot

HARTFORD, September 8, 2009: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the team has signed forward Jean-Philip Chabot to an American Hockey League contract.

Chabot completed a four-year Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) career in 2008-09, winning the league's Guy Carbonneau Trophy, given to the QMJHL's top defensive forward, as a member of the Gatineau Olympiques. In 67 games, the 6-1, 196-pound Chabot scored 33 goals and added 43 assists for 76 points, while serving 70 minutes in penalties and posting a +14 plus/minus rating. The Quebec City native tied for second on the Gatineau club in goals and finished third on the team in points and assists. In the 2009 postseason, Chabot tied for the Gatineau team lead in goals and finished tied for second in points, with seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 10 games.

In 2007-08, Chabot scored 38 goals in 70 regular-season games (38-19-57) for Gatineau, tying for the team goal-scoring lead, and added 14-8-22 in 19 postseason outings, as the Olympiques captured the QMJHL title and earned a trip to the Memorial Cup. Chabot also went to the Memorial Cup in 2005-06, his first full QMJHL season, with the Moncton Wildcats, who advanced all the way to the final game of the tournament before losing to the Quebec Remparts.

In 269 career QMJHL games with Moncton and Gatineau, Chabot, 21, totaled 108 goals and 102 assists for 210 points, along with 230 PIM.

Single-game tickets for 2009-10 Hartford Wolf Pack regular season home games will go on sale this Thursday, September 10. Availability at the XL Center box office will begin at 12 Noon. The Wolf Pack's home schedule kicks off Saturday, October 10 against the Springfield Falcons (7:00).
