Wizards Foursome Set To Do Battle vs. Germany

Nearly 70,000 fans are expected to pack into Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, Germany to watch as four Kansas City Wizards will be suiting up with their U.S. National Team teammates to take on the German National Team this Wednesday, March 22nd at 1:25 p.m. CST. The 2006 World Cup hosts and the American's will play one of the most talked about "warm-up friendlies" before this summer's Cup in the largest soccer stadium the host country has to offer. Wizards strike-pair Eddie Johnson and Josh Wolff, along with defender Jimmy Conrad and midfielder Kerry Zavagnin, will don the red, white, and blue in the United States' final match on European soil prior to the start of World Cup in June. The match will be carried live on ESPN2.

Mid-America Barnstorming Tour: First Stop

This weekend the Kansas City Wizards embark on their fourth annual Mid-America Barnstorming Tour by playing their first exhibition match of 2006 in Oklahoma City. Having played over a dozen exhibition matches in some of the Midwest's biggest cities over the past three years, The Wizards will square-off against FC Dallas at the Saturn Challenge Cup in Moore, Okla. this Saturday, March 25th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST at Moore High School Stadium. Tickets for the match, Kansas City's final preseason game before next week's season opener, are on sale now at www.tix.com or by calling 1-800-595-4TIX. Prices range from $10 for general admission to $25 for lower reserved seating. As a special treat for the Oklahoma City area soccer fans, the Wizards' training session at the South Lakes Soccer Complex on Friday, March 24th at 6:00 p.m. will be open to the public. Kansas City will continue its 2006 Mid-America Barnstorming Tour with an exhibition match against Missouri State on Wednesday, April 12th at the Cooper Sports Complex in Springfield, Mo. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for children 12-under, and $6 for MSU students/faculty w/ ID.

Wizards Return From Germany

The Wizards return to Kansas City on Tuesday having concluded two weeks of preseason training in Germany. The Wizards return home with an undefeated record from across the pond, having posted a 2-0-1 overall record. The Wizards opened preseason competition in Germany with a 3-1 win over FC Nürnberg's Amateurs on the 14th, and topped Bundesliga 2 side FC Erzgebirge Aue 2-1 one day later. The Wizards lone draw came on the 19th when they tied FC Nürnberg 1-1. Midfielder Sasha Victorine led all scorers with two goals, including the game-winner against the 1FCN Amateurs. Eddie Johnson and Jose Luis Burciaga Jr. each netted one goal and assisted on another over the course of KC's three matches. Josh Wolff opened the Wizards' scoring in Germany, netting their first goal just eight minutes into the match with the Amateurs. Davy Arnaud closed out the goal-scoring, tallying Kansas City's lone strike against FC Nürnberg. Rounding out the scoresheets, Scott Sealy, Alex Zotinca, and Lance Watson each notched one assist on the trip.

Home Opener: 12 Days and Counting

The 2006 season is now less than two weeks away with Kansas City scheduled to kickoff the season against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, April 1st at 7:30 p.m. in Arrowhead Stadium.
