Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, ND - Two days after needing to come from behind by 22 points for a win, the Dakota Wizards defeated the Utah Flash in much more comfortable fashion on Tuesday night in front of 2,516 fans at the Bismarck Civic Center. Despite all five Flash starters scoring in double figures, Dakota pulled away from Utah down the stretch to win 103-91.

The Flash used quick starts from Jordan Brady (seven points) and former Wizard Dontell Jefferson (six points) to build a 29-23 lead after one period. Dakota's Curtis Withers notched seven points of his own in the quarter, one game removed from a miserable performance against Utah in which he was held scoreless and grabbed only two rebounds.

Dakota started the second period on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 29. Utah responded with a run of its own, with an Orien Greene layup eventually putting the Flash up nine with 8:36 left in the half. Over the final 4:13, Dakota scored eight unanswered points to head into the locker room up by two at halftime.

Dakota's Romel Beck began to heat up in the third period, converting three field goals and two free throws for ten points. He was nearly matched by Utah's Andre Ingram, who scored nine points of his own in the frame for Utah.

As was the case on Sunday afternoon, Dakota saved its best for the fourth quarter. The Wizards shot 8-of-14 from the field while a stifling defense held Utah to 7-of-16. Withers and Darren Cooper led the way down the stretch for Dakota, each scoring seven points in the final period. Utah's Luke Nevill tried to keep it close, tallying eight points in the fourth.

Although all five Flash starters scored in double figures, Utah also committed 21 turnovers which led to 25 Dakota points. The Wizards' reserves also outscored their counterparts 52-20, led by Jason Straight's 19 points and six rebounds off of the bench. Andre Ingram (18 points) and Dontell Jefferson (16 points) once again led the way in the scoring column for Utah.

Up next for Dakota is a trip to Fort Wayne for a pair of games while Utah will visit Idaho for a doubleheader.
