
Wizards Sign Former NBA Point Guard Chris Herren

Bismarck, ND - The Dakota Wizards announce the signing of 6'3" point guard Chris Herren, pending CBA league approval. Herren is a 1999 graduate of Fresno State, where he averaged 11.5 points and was 5th in the nation with 7.2 assists per game.
Herren was the 33rd pick in the 1999 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets. Herren averaged 3.1 ppg, and 2.5 rpg for the Nuggets. In October of 2000, Herren was traded to the Boston Celtics where he averaged 3.3ppg and 2.2 apg, seeing action in 25 games.
During the 2001 season, Herren played for Skipper Bologna in Italy A1 league, and spent last season with the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he scored a league record 63 points in a game.
"Chris is a hard nosed player, which is something we wanted to address as a team this summer. This is the guy we're going to give the keys to our team and let him drive--this is big for our organization." stated Wizards Coach Dave Joerger.
