Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, ND (February 6, 2006) - The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Dakota Wizards guard/forward Kasib Powell has been named the CBA Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 30th through Feb. 5th. He added to his streak of five consecutive double-doubles by recording one in all four Wizards games last week.

Powell just missed averaging a triple-double for the week. The Western Conference All-Star starter, out of Texas Tech, ended up with averages of 21 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals while leading the Wizards to a 3-1 record for the week. Kasib has been instrumental to the Wizards this season as he has played everywhere on the floor except center. The experience he brings to the table cannot be understated.

On the season, Powell leads the Wizards with 18.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. He has also averaged 7.3 rebounds per game. He has seen his numbers go up dramatically ever since Mo Baker signed overseas.

This was Kasib's first player of the week award this season. Meanwhile, it marks the third time this season that a Wizard has received this honor. Mo Baker had won it twice earlier this season.

Other players receiving consideration based on the submission of each team were Rockford's Ronnie Fields (24.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.8 apg), Sioux Falls' Billy Thomas (24.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.5 apg), Idaho's David Jackson (24.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 4 apg), Gary's Jimmie Hunter (25.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 4.8 apg), Michigan's Jamar Brown (17.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.7 apg), Yakama's Antwain Barbour (18.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 3 apg) and Albany's Justin Miller (11.5 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1 apg).

The Dakota Wizards are on the road this week with a game at Idaho tomorrow followed by two games at Yakama later in the week. The Wizards return home on Monday, February 20th, when they host the Yakama Sun Kings. Tip off is scheduled for 7:05. Tickets are still available for all four of the Wizards' remaining home games.
