
Wizards Acquire Guard Lawrence Westbrook

Bismarck, N.D. (Jan. 19, 2011) - The Dakota Wizards announced today that they have acquired guard Lawrence Westbrook (6-0 185, Minnesota) via the Available Player Pool. Westbrook will practice with the team this week and will be in uniform this weekend as the Wizards play host to the defending NBA Development League Champion the Rio Grande Valley Vipers Friday and Saturday.
Westbrook, 23, was drafted in this year's NBA Development League Draft in the third round by the Maine Red Claws. He appeared in nine games with the Red Claws averaging 4.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists. As a senior at Minnesota, Westbrook averaged 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists and shot 41% from behind the arc. Westbrook was a Big-10 honorable mention his junior and senior year at Minnesota
To make room for Westbrook on the roster the Wizards waived guard Vernon Hamilton due to injury. The roster currently stands at 11 players.
