
Wisconsin starts homestand with a win

FOX CITIES STADIUM -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers started an eight game homestand with an 8-2 victory over the Clinton LumberKings Thursday night. Mike Wilson drove in a pair of runs and Aaron Jensen allowed one run over six innings with four strikeouts for the Rattlers.
Wisconsin (52-45 overall, 13-14 second half) rallied with two outs in the first inning to take the lead. Brandon Green doubled down the left field line. Mike Wilson followed with double to leftcenter that drove Green home to put the Rattlers up 1-0.
Wilson put the Rattlers up 2-0 with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Rob Johnson made it 3-0 with another RBI single later in the third.
The Rattlers pushed their lead to 8-0 with a five run sixth inning. A single by Chris Colton drove in one run and an error on the play allowed another run to score. Brent Johnson and Yung Chi Chen followed with consecutive RBI singles. A sacrifice fly by Green pushed the final run of the inning across the plate.
Clinton (50-47, 12-15) got on the board in the seventh inning. Jensen gave up a leadoff single to Ben Harrison and departed. Wisconsin reliever Eric O'Flaherty gave up a double to Jim Fasano that put runners on second and third with no outs. Craig Hurba drove in Harrison with an infield groundout. O'Flaherty got the next two out without incident.
Fasano hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth inning off Adam Brandt for the last run of the night.
Game two of the series is Friday night. Julio Santiago (2-2, 5.55ERA) is the scheduled starter for the Timber Rattlers. Clinton will counter with John Bannister (5-8, 4.87ERA). Game time is 7:05pm.
