SEASON TICKET HOLDER DRAFT TO TAKE PLACE IN OCTOBER - CHANCE TO PURCHASE WINTER CLASSIC TICKETS

A handful of lucky Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins backers will have the opportunity to purchase the hottest ticket in the National Hockey League through the Penguins Season Ticket Holder Draft, which will take place during the club's October home games.The 2011 Bridgestone Winter Classic will take place on January 1, 2011 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. The league's marquee event will feature Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins facing off against Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals in one of the most hotly contested rivalries in the NHL.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have reserved the right to purchase 400 tickets to the game, and will be distributing the chance to buy those seats exclusively to their season ticket holders.

The Season Ticket Holder Draft will be a weighted lottery, with full season ticket holders receiving six (6) chances to win per seat, 22-game season ticket holders receiving three (3) chances to win per seat, 12-game season ticket holders receiving two (2) chances to win per seat, six-game season ticket holders receiving one (1) chance to win per seat, and flex book holders receiving one (1) chance to win per flex book purchased.

Fans will receive vouchers for the drawing with their season tickets. These vouchers must then be returned to the Penguins Team Store (located at 40 Coal Street in Wilkes-Barre) or dropped off at the Penguins Fan Assistance Booth during the team's two preseason home games or opening night contest, where they will be placed into the drawing.

The winners will be pulled live on the ice during Penguins home contests throughout the month of October. Those winners will then be able to purchase tickets for the Winter Classic through the Penguins allotment. Winners are not required to purchase the tickets.

All season ticket purchases made by opening night, including existing season ticket holders, will be eligible for the Season Ticket Holder draft.

CHRIS COLLINS, TODD REIRDEN TO APPEAR AT PENGUINS HOCKEY CAMP

Here's your chance to get a leg up on the competition for the upcoming youth hockey season.

Join Wilkes-Barre/Scranton head coach John Hynes, along with Pittsburgh assistant coach Todd Reirden and Penguins forward Chris Collins at the PENGUINS HOCKEY CAMP, taking place at the Ice Rink at Coal Street from August 16-20.

Reirden will be appearing on ice during Tuesday's practice sessions, while Collins will join the camp on Wednesday afternoon.

This special camp features two sessions per day (Mites/Squirts and Pee-Wees/Bantams), and includes more than 10 hours of ice time per week, as well as off ice instruction from Penguins strength and conditioning coach Joe Lorincz.

Players will work on skating, passing, stickhandling, agility and game situations during the week. Additionally, each player will be individually videotaped twice during the week - once at the beginning of camp, once at the end - to show your progress.

In addition to the first class instruction, players will also receive a Penguins Hockey Camp jerseys.

LANNON, COLLINS TO ATTEND PENS-FEST

It will be an old favorite joining a new one, as former Penguins defenseman Ryan Lannon and newly-signed forward Chris Collins will be among the special guests at PENS-FEST 2010. The free event takes place on Friday, August 20th from 4:00pm-9:00pm at the Ice Rink at Coal Street Park.

Lannon, 27, originally joined the Penguins in 2005-06 after a successful four-year collegiate career at Harvard University. In 217 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Lannon compiled 42 points (5G, 37A) and 165 penalty minutes. The native of Grafton, Massachusetts also appeared in 45 postseason contests with the Penguins, and was an integral part of the Penguins' blueline during the team's run through the 2008 Calder Cup Finals.

Collins, a native of Fairport, NY, was signed by the Penguins as a free agent on July 28. He spent his last two seasons in Germany with the Augsberg Panthers (DEL), where he posted 79 points (37G, 42A) and 150 penalty minutes over 80 games. His 46 points last season placed him sixth on the Panthers in scoring. The 5-8, 202-lb. left wing also logged 43 points (24G, 19A) in 99 regular-season games in the AHL, all as a member of the Providence Bruins, from 2006-08.

Collins completed his four-year collegiate career at Boston College (HE) in 2005-06, a season in which he tied for the nation's lead with 63 points (34G, 29A). He was one of three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, and helped lead the Eagles to the Frozen Four. He was also named Hockey East's Player of the Year.

PENS-FEST 2010 will feature outdoor games and activities, face painters, entertainment, a visit from team mascot Tux, and autograph sessions featuring current and former Penguins players.

Additionally, a pair of FREE public skating sessions will be held at the Ice Rink at Coal Street Park. Everyone is welcome to come down and experience the area's newest and coolest spot to lace up the skates for no cost at all (skate rental is also free)!

Penguins fans will also get the first glimpse of the team's 2010-11 alternate jersey, can check out merchandise and equipment in the expanded team pro shop, and will be able to tour the team's new locker room facilities.

The event takes place from 4:00pm-9:00pm, and is free and open to everyone (food and beverages will be available to purchase from the rink's concession stand).
