WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Football Club today announced details of its Security Policy for Investors Group Field which features the introduction of security wands as the primary screening device.

"The Football Club takes the safety of our fans extremely seriously and has outlined policies to ensure everyone can enjoy an event or concert at our new facility," said Blue Bomber President and CEO, Garth Buchko. "We believe we have taken a balanced approach to security that respects the privacy of fans while still allowing us the flexibility to conduct manual searches should they be required, to guard against the kind of tragedy that can happen anywhere, anytime, as it did recently in Boston."

As part of the security policy:

- For spectator safety, authorities are allowed to inspect patrons and their bags upon entering events. While security wands will be the primary screening device, authorities may conduct manual searchers should they come across anything they deem suspicious;

- Fans are allowed to bring in one (1) litre or smaller empty bottles and will be able to fill them up at one of the many water fountains found inside the stadium;

- With the exception of a single-serving snack (chocolate bar or vegetables etc.), no outside food or beverages will be allowed. However, fans with medical issues (like diabetes) who require special exemptions are asked to contact the main office at 204.784.2583 24 hours prior to game time to receive a special pass.

Prohibited items include:

- Outside alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons (or items deemed hazardous by security), incendiary devices (fireworks, smoke bombs etc.), or poles of any kind;

- Flasks, ice bags, ice chests, coolers or picnic baskets;

- Frisbees, playing balls, laser pointers, boom boxes, rollerblades, roller skates or skateboards;

- Musical instruments, air horns, powered megaphones, pets, obscene/indecent signs or clothing.

As always, fans entering the field of play at any time during play or while an event is on, will be subject to arrest.
