Aberdeen Wings News Release
Your Aberdeen Wings got their first NAHL Central Division win of the season Friday night defeating the Minnesota Wilderness 4-3 in overtime! Jonathan Bendorf put the Wings on the board early in the first with his first goal of the season, Beatty & Salpeter assisted on the goal just over 5 minutes into the game. The Wings would ride that 1-0 lead into the 2nd period. The Wilderness would tie things up early in the 2nd, but that wouldn't last long. Less then a minute after the Wilderness goal Stephan Pokorny would get his 1st of the game and season to re-give the wings a 1 goal lead. Assisting on the goal were Murphy and Huard. Only 41 seconds later Connor Beatty would give the Wings a 2 goal lead with Powell and Bendorf assisting. The Wilderness would get 2 back in the 3rd sending the game into overtime. The extra period would see chances for both teams, but the Wilderness would get a penalty shot. Goaltender Matt Vernon would shut the door though and would keep the extra frame going. Ultimately Pokorny would get his 2nd of the game and the game winner at the 3:55 mark of OT. Vernon was solid in net stopping 27 of the 30 shots he faced.
The teams are back at it again tomorrow night with a 7:35pm CST puck drop. Watch the game at Buffalo Wings & Rings in Aberdeen or by logging on to HockeyTV.com. Listen to the action on 94.1 The Rock, HubCityRadio.com or the Rock app!
