Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings closed out their exhibition weekend with the Topeka RoadRunners with a 2-5 loss Saturday night at the Odde Ice Center. The Wings had their backs against the wall early in the 1 after Topeka was able to get 2 quick goals. With only 33 seconds remaining in the period Aberdeen Wings forward Gavin Payne put them on the board with a break away back hand that found the back of the net. The 2nd period was controlled by Aberdeen but it was Topeka building on their lead netting 2 more goals. Gavin Payne was able to come off the wall and sneak one in short side mid-way through the 3rd but it was not enough in the end with the Wings splitting the weekend with Topeka with a 2-5 loss. The Wings are back in action next Friday night in Brookings then home vs. Brookings Saturday. The Wings are also teaming up with Out of the Darkness for a fundraising walk next Saturday morning, registration is from 9-9:45 in the lobby of the Odde Ice Center.
