
Wings Select Seven Players in National Lacrosse League Entry Draft

The Philadelphia Wings indoor lacrosse team selected forward Rob Van Beek as their first pick (5th overall) in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft. Van Beek, a product of the Port Coquitlam Saints, is expected to join the team when they open training camp in November.
"Rob is a great transition player and a left-hander, which our team needed," said Wings General Manager Lindsay Sanderson. "Combined with his scoring power and toughness, he is the perfect addition to our club."
The 5'11", 190 pound Van Beek led Port Coquitlam in scoring in 2004 with 61 points (26G, 35A). He was named MVP of the British Columbia Lacrosse Association in 2003 and 2004 and was fifth overall in the league in scoring last season.

Brian Nee: Selected by the Wings in the fourth round (36th overall) ... Forward ... 6'1", 206 pounds ... Cockeysville, MD ... Recorded 47 points (32G, 15A) during the '04 season at Syracuse University ... Scored one of the final two goals in Syracuse's 2004 NCAA Championship win over Navy.
Andy Murray: Selected by the Wings in the fourth round (42nd overall) ... Forward ... 5'9", 170 ... Ellicot City, MD ... Recorded 42 points (21G, 21A) and went 228-334 in face-offs during the '04 season at Salisbury State ... Helped lead the Sea Gulls to a 20-0 season, including a national title in '04 ... Named National Player of the Year in 2003.
Kris Davis: Selected by the Wings in the fifth round (48th overall) ... Forward ... Parkton, MD ... 5'11", 195 pounds ... Finished the '04 season with 55 points (26G, 29A) for Roanoke College ... Finished third on Roanoke's All-Time scoring list with 228 points.
Stephen Berger: Selected by the Wings in the sixth round (59th overall) ... Forward ... Columbia, MD ... 5'9", 171 pounds ... Led Washington College with a school record of 94 points (53G, 41A) during the 2004 season ... Team captain during his senior year ... First-team All-American in 2004 and 2003 and a second-team All-American in 2002.
