Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings picked up six new prospects in the 2010 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft in Toronto on Wednesday, September 8. The Wings first selection was Brodie McDonald, a 6'7" goalie from Coquitlam Adanacs (BCJALL), whom they selected in the second round, 19th overall. MacDonald, a BCJALL second-team All Star, was ranked as one of the top backstops in 2010.

The Wings also selected Max Quinzani, Duke University's second all-time leading goal scorer (180 goals) and fifth all-time points leader (212) in the second round (20th overall). Last season Quinzani was the Atlantic Coast Conference's leading goal scorer (49) and points leader (58). Quinzani earned two USILA All-America awards, and has led the Blue Devils to three ACC Tournament Championships.

In the third round, the Wings picked up Christian Scuderi and Justin Pennington (23 and 25 overall). Scuderi, a defenseman from Hofstra University, was a three-time All-American, including twice at New York Institute of Technology before coming to Hofstra in 2008. Pennington led Rutgers University in goals (26) and was second in points (34) during the 2010 season.

The remaining three rounds yielded Ryan Nizolek and Max Pomper from the University of Virginia and Parker McKee of Duke University (33, 53, and 43 overall).

"It was a real group effort with our coaching and lacrosse operations support staff," said General Manager Johnny Mouradian. We identified US players with the lacrosse temperament to put in the work transition into the indoor game and have the toughness to play in the National Lacrosse League. We feel we have secured the top Junior goaltender in the draft and look forward to developing him over the years."

The Wings open their 25th Anniversary Season at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, January 8 when they host the Boston Blazers at 7 p.m. Lower level season tickets are available now by calling 215-389-WING (9464).
