Wings rally late to beat Mammoth 11-10

Trailing for more than 44 minutes, the Philadelphia Wings mounted a come back to defeat the Colorado Mammoth 11-10 for their first win of the 2011 season at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO.

The Wings came out in the second half with an intensity that took the Mammoth by surprise. Third quarter goals by Max Seibald, Ryan Boyle and Drew Westervelt slimmed the Mammoth lead to one. The Wings defense held the Mammoth to only three goals in the second half, all of which came in the last quarter. Forward Kyle Sweeney opened the fourth quarter with a goal that would tie the game at 7. Wings and Mammoth would both add 3 goals a piece in the next 12 minutes. Paul Dawson's second goal of the game, with only 1:30 remaining in the contest broke the 10-10 tie, giving the Wings the edge.

Wings' standout transition player Max Seibald ended the night with 3 goals, 1 assist and 3 loose balls. Athan Iannucci had 1 goal, 2 assist and 2 loose balls while defender Paul Dawson had 2 goals and 1 assist.

The Wings host the Colorado Mammoth at the Wells Fargo Center next Saturday, January 29 at 7 p.m. If this contest is a preview of next week fans can expect hard hits and lots of lacrosse action. Great seats are still available online at www.WingsLAX.com.
