Arlington, Texas - The Dallas Wings (1-2) lost to the Connecticut Sun (2-1), 73 - 58, at College Park Center, Wednesday evening.
The Wings attack was spearheaded by guard Marina Mabrey, who tallied 20 points for her ninth straight game in double-figures. She was joined by rookie Veronica Burton, who became the first rookie since the team moved to Dallas to record double-digit points in a playoff game, as she finished with 10. Dallas center Teaira McCowan led the rebounding effort, grabbing 12 boards, her second game in the playoffs with 10 or more rebounds and the most she has grabbed in a single game this postseason.
Notables:
Guard Marina Mabrey netted her playoff career-high, scoring 20 points.
Teaira McCowan grabbed 12 rebounds, her playoff career high.
Rookie Veronica Burton tallied 10 points, the first rookie since the team moved to Dallas to record 10 or more points in a playoff game.
As a team, the Wings went 14 of 16 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
