Wings Lose Nadelen In Expansion Draft

October 19, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

Philadelphia Wings' defenseman Shawn Nadelen was chosen by the National Lacrosse League's new Minnesota franchise in an expansion draft that took place today. Nadelen played one season for the Wings and is a three-year NLL veteran.

"We are disappointed at the loss of Shawn (Nadelen) to the new Minnesota franchise, but it was an understood risk that we were taking when we left him unprotected in the expansion draft," said Wings General Manager Lindsay Sanderson. "We wish him continued success in his lacrosse career and are appreciative of the contributions he made to our franchise last season."

Minnesota General Manager Marty O'Neill selected one unprotected player from each team, making a total of ten selections. No team lost more than one player. Previously, O'Neill was the General Manager for the Philadelphia Wings for three seasons (2002-2004).

Nadelen recorded ten points (1G, 9A) and 73 ground balls in eleven games played for the Wings last season. He spent his first two NLL seasons with the New Jersey Storm where he recorded 25 points (7G, 18A) in 25 games played. Nadelen played his college lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University where he was a second team All-American in 2001.
