Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Wings were riding high after comeback overtime win against Halifax when they returned to the Wells Fargo center on Sunday. Facing an 0-3 Riptide team, it was apparent from the start that the Riptide were the hungrier team. New York got off to a hot start and took an early 3-0 lead, before the Wings battled back to make it a 4-3 game with the Riptide leading at the end of the 1st. After Mitch Jones tied the game at 4, the Riptide rattled off four straight goals. Blaze Riorden made it a 3 goal game headed into halftime thanks to his first goal since returning from injury, but it was too little too late. The Wings ultimately fell to the Riptide, 16-9.
The lone bright spot on offense was rookie Taggart Clark, who scored his first professional hat trick in the contest. The Wings are back in action at home next Saturday when they host the Saskatchewan Rush.
