Philadelphia Wings News Release

Kyle Jackson, who signed as a free agent on Thursday, led the team with a seven-point game that included the game-winning goal as the Philadelphia Wings bucked a six-game losing streak with a 13-11 road victory over the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday night at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Michael Sowers and Brennan O'Neill each bagged four goals for the Wings, who pulled away from a back-and-forth battle in the final four minutes to take the win.

It was an inauspicious start for the Wings as Buffalo sprinted out to a 3-0 lead in the game's first five minutes, but Philadelphia answered with a four-goal run of its own that included two goals from O'Neill surrounding two shorthanded goals on the same penalty kill, one from Joe Resetarits and the other from Scott Dominey. That gave the Wings a 4-3 lead after the first quarter.

The teams went blow-for-blow from that point on, leading to a 6-6 tie at halftime and a 9-9 deadlock after three quarters. Buffalo scored the first two tallies of the fourth quarter to go up 11-9, but after that Nick Damude and the Wings defense locked things down for the final 5:32 of the contest. O'Neill tallied his fourth and Sowers his third less than 90 seconds apart, and then Jackson potted the winning goal with 3:52 to play. Sowers finished off the scoring with an insurance goal about 90 seconds later.

Jackson, who appeared in three games for Oshawa earlier this season, signed up for his second tour of duty with the Wings on Thursday. He appeared in six games for the team in 2022, posting seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points, and added two goals in the 2022 playoff game against San Diego. Before Saturday's contest, he had appeared in a total of 112 regular season games with Rochester/Halifax, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Albany/Oshawa, recording 146 goals and 207 assists for 353 points.

Six different Wings had multi-point games and 11 had at least a point. Sowers an dO'Neill each added an assist for five-point nights, while Joe Resetarits had a goal and four assists for his own five-point game. Sam LeClair had the other goal, and Eric Fannell contributed three assists.

Nick Damude made 46 saves on 57 shots in the game, including 42 stops on the final 50 shots he faced over the last 55 minutes of the contest. Bo Columbus went 11-for-28 on faceoffs, and Alex Pace led the way in loose ball pickups with eight.

The Wings will wrap up a three-game road swing next Saturday night with a visit to the Calgary Roughnecks. They'll return home to start the second half of the season on Sunday, February 22 against the Saskatchewan Rush.
