Vancouver Warriors News Release
SASKATOON, SK - In a Valentine's Day contest between two heavyweight teams, the Saskatchewan Rush edged the Vancouver Warriors 9-8 at SaskTel Centre. Vancouver held an early lead in the first quarter, but the Rush battled back, tying the game and forcing overtime.
The Rush had one final possession with 21.4 seconds on the clock at the end of the fourth quarter, but Vancouver's defence was fierce and goaltender Christian Del Bianco made a save as time was running out, sending the game into overtime. The Rush average a league-leading 12.67 goals per contest, but the Warriors held them to nine.
Adam Charalambides led the Warriors with six points (3G, 3A), while Jesse King and Keegan Bal each had two goals and an assist, and Marcus Klarich scored one goal and chipped in two assists.
Del Bianco turned aside 31 of 40 shots he faced.
With the loss, the Warriors move to 6-3 on the season. Vancouver is back at Rogers Arena to take on the Buffalo Bandits next Friday, February 20th at 7:00pm PT for Rock & Roll Night.
