WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Dallas Wings (3-2) lost on the road this evening, 75-74, against the Washington Mystics at Entertainment and Sports Arena.
Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally both finished the evening with double-doubles after Howard recorded 16 points and a season-high 13 rebounds, while Sabally recorded 18 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. Sabally's double-double represents her third of the season and tenth of her career.The last time the Wings had two players with a double-double in the same game was September 2, 2021 vs. the Atlanta Dream (Isabelle Harrison and Allisha Gray).
Recently crowned Kia Western Conference Player of the Month, Arike Ogunbowale totaled 18 points, while dishing out six assists tonight to tie her season high.
Veronica Burton recorded her first multi-three game of the season and fourth of her career, sinking her first at 6:22 in the first quarter and a second at 6:19 in the third quarter to complete a 7-0 Wings' run.
The Wings came out strong from halftime and scored a season-high 27 points in the third, while holding the Mystics under 20 points in the quarter.
Rookie Maddy Siegrist sunk her first basket of the game within her first minute on the court. Her second basket game with 30 seconds left in the third that allowed the Wings to come within a single point of the Mystics after trailing by 10 just three minutes prior.
Dallas Wings Notes:
The Wings held the Mystics to 14 points in the first quarter, the lowest of any opponent in the first quarter thus far.
The Dallas starters combined for 18 assists, led by Sabally who finished with seven assists, which represents a new career high.
The Wings held the Mystics to a season-low 34.2 field goal percentage.
The Wings forced 15 turnovers, an effort Burton and Sabally led with three steals each, and the team turned those 15 turnovers into 20 points off turnovers.
