LOS ANGELES, California - The Dallas Wings (1-0) doused the Los Angeles Sparks (0-1) in its season opener Friday night.
Allisha Gray and Arike Ogunbowale led the scoring for the Wings, with 23 and 17 points respectively. Gray's 23 points left her just three shy of her career-high, which she set against the Minnesota Lynx on September 4, 2020 in the Wubble. For Ogunbowale, that extends her league-leading double-digit scoring streak to 38 games.
First overall pick Charli Collier shined in her debut, dropping an 11-point, 10 rebound double-double while adding a steal and a block. The Wings dominated the boards, as Thornton led the way with 11 rebounds and Gray and Harrison added nine more. The teams 45 rebounds are the most for the Wings since they grabbed 49 boards against the Mercury on June 20, 2019.
The Wings next head home to College Park Center for the first time since facing the Storm on September 8, 2019, to once again face Seattle (0-0) Saturday, May 22. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed live on Facebook and Bally Sports Southwest Plus.
