Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings' Athan Iannucci was awarded the NLL's Player of the Month Award for his 35 point (25G, 10A) performance in six games during the month of April. Iannucci also broke the NLL's single season goal scoring record with his 62nd goal scored on April 12 against the Minnesota Swarm. This is his third Player of the Month Award this season.

"Athan's accomplishments this season are quite remarkable given that this is only his second professional season," said Wings Head Coach Dave Huntley. "I'm looking forward to seeing him continue to develop as a lacrosse player and I think he'll be a star player in this league for many years."

Iannucci finished the 2008 regular season as the NLL's leading scorer with 100 points (71G, 29A). He also led all forwards with 138 loose balls. After being drafted by the Wings in the first round (eighth overall) in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old finished his rookie season with 47 points (27G, 20A) and was third overall in scoring for the Wings.

The Wings face the Buffalo Bandits in the first round of the NLL Champion's Cup Playoffs this Friday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. at HSBC Arena.
