Buffalo's John Tavares Named Offensive Player Of The Week

BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 30, 2008) - The National Lacrosse League announced today that Buffalo's John Tavares was named Offensive Player of the Week for Week 17 of the NLL season.

The 39-year-old Tavares led the Bandits with four goals and four assists in Buffalo's 14-10 win over Portland on Saturday at HSBC Arena.

Tavares leads the Bandits in scoring with 87 points (29+58) and is second on the team in goals scored. Tavares sits seventh in league scoring.

The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the general managers and head coaches of the League's 12 member clubs.

The Buffalo Bandits have won the East Division Title and home field throughout the playoffs as the top overall seed. They will face off against the Philadelphia Wings at HSBC Arena on Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 PM.
