Wingnuts Add Former Texas Lutheran Star to Bullpen

Wichita Wingnuts News Release
WICHITA, KS (August 10, 2015) - Pitching depth continues to be a main area of need for the Wichita Wingnuts as the American Association regular season reaches its final quarter. The club addressed that area of concern on Monday afternoon when they signed former Division III All-American Brad Orosey.
Orosey (OAR-see) made three starts earlier this season for the Normal CornBelters of the Frontier League. In that trio of appearances he was 0-1 with an earned run average of 7.11. He struck out eight batters in 12.2 innings.
The 26-year old is in his fourth season of professional ball, each of them spent at the independent level. He went undrafted after starring for Texas Lutheran University from 2009-2012. As a true freshman, the right-hander put together a 10-1 record and 3.72 ERA. He was named Honorable Mention All-American by D3baseball.com, American Southwest Conference Freshman of the year and was the only freshman to appear on the All-West Region First Team. He threw more innings than any other pitcher in the conference and tossed four complete games.
His sophomore season also ended with a 10-1 record and he paced the ASC in strikeouts and innings pitched. He earned recognition as Second Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings, Third Team All-American by D3baseball.com, First Team All-West Region, and the ASC West Pitcher of the Year. He tossed a no-hitter against Southwestern University and tacked on four more complete games to his resume.
The 26-year old combined to go 12-4 in his final two seasons at the school located in Seguin, Texas. The pitcher became the conference's all-time wins leader on April 13, 2012 when he picked up his 31st victory as Texas Lutheran defeated Hardin-Simmons. Orosey finished his career with 32 wins.
The Houston, Texas native made his professional debut in 2012 and boasts a career 4.82 ERA with 183 strikeouts in 194.0 total innings pitched. After a pair of stints in the Pecos League to open his career, Orosey opened the 2014 season in Rio Grande Valley before spending a short time with Fargo-Moorhead in late July. He went 6-4 with a 2.06 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 70.0 innings of work for the WhiteWings last season.
Orosey will be in uniform on Monday night when the Wingnuts take on Joplin at 7:05 p.m. at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
