Daytona Beach Thunder News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Daytona Beach Thunder of the American Indoor Football League announces that Kim Winger will serve as the publicist for the Lightning dance team
A member of the squad, Winger brings over 10 years of journalism training and experience, as well as 23 years of dance experience, to the Thunder organization.
"Having Kim handling the dance team publicity is a godsend,'' said Thunder Lightning Director of Communications Dan Ryan. "Who better to help promote a dance team than a dancer? The ownership group is committed to making the dance team the best in indoor football, and having their own publicist will maximize their exposure - pardon the pun."
The 27-year-old Florida native, who graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Central Florida, where she wrote as a staff reporter for the UCF KnightWire.
In addition to her journalism background, she also brings 23 years of dance experience. Winger has danced professionally in indoor football for two years, served as assistant coach of the national champion New Smyrna Beach High School Showdolls dance team, and has danced in New York and other various venues regionally and nationally.
During the day, she is a high school English teacher at Spruce Creek High School, where she is a member of the School Advisory Council and the Superintendent's Diploma of Distinction Council. She also runs an SAT preparation workshop for students in the spring.
She is currently living in Daytona Beach and planning to pursue her Masters of Arts degree in Journalism.
The Lightning is under the leadership of Kelly Conway, who has guided the Showdolls to ten national championships during her tenure.
