North Bay Battalion News Release
NORTH BAY, Ont. - The North Bay Battalion has traded right winger Alex Christopoulos to the Windsor Spitfires, the Ontario Hockey League club announced Monday.
The Battalion received Windsor's fifth-round pick in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection for Christopoulos, who had one goal and one assist for two points with 10 penalty minutes in 21 games this season.
Christopoulos, 18, scored 12 goals and added four assists for 16 points with 10 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Battalion in 2019-20 after the club made him a third-round choice in 2019 from the Don Mills Flyers minor midgets.
He had 49 goals and 44 assists for 93 points in 43 games with Don Mills in 2018-19.
"Alex has been a great member of the Battalion over the last two and a half years," said general manager Adam Dennis. "He's a tireless worker and a great teammate. We wish him well with his new opportunity in Windsor."
Battalion defenceman Paul Christopoulos, a second-rounder in 2019 from the Flyers, is the right winger's twin.
Dennis said that Rodion Tatarenko, signed to a standard player's agreement Nov. 4, will join the Troops for practice from the affiliated junior A Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and be available for road games Friday and Saturday nights against the Hamilton Bulldogs and Niagara IceDogs respectively.
The Battalion chose Tatarenko, a left-shot forward, in the ninth round of the 2020 Priority Selection from the Toronto Red Wings minor midgets, with whom he scored 13 goals and added 13 assists for 26 points in 31 Greater Toronto Hockey League games in 2019-20.
Tatarenko, who leads Powassan in scoring with 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in 21 games, is a 17-year-old native of Stavropol, Russia, who lives in Toronto.
Dennis has described him as "a highly skilled player who doesn't shy away from the physical side of the game."
Dennis said, "He's been playing well and has earned this opportunity."
