Wilson Tobs First Varsity Classic of '23 in the Books

Wilson, N.C. - Following some great high school baseball at Historic Fleming Stadium this past weekend, the first High School Varsity Classic of '23 is in the books! It was a successful two days of games with (2) games on Friday the 17th and (4) games on Saturday the 18th. Wake County Homeschool, Eastern Christian Homeschool, Princeton, Cardinal Gibbons, Nash Central, Wilson Christian, Chapel Hill, Rosewood, Perquimans, North Raleigh Christian Academy, Orange, and South Central all came to Fleming for games during the first Varsity Classic. The game between Southern Nash and DH Conley scheduled for Friday night was postponed to a later date due to incoming weather.

The 2022 CPL Eastern Conference Champion Wilson Tobs will open up their 2023 season on Sunday May 28th. This game will feature pregame band Matty Begs and a postgame Firework Extravaganza show. The final (2) Firework Extravaganzas of the season will be Saturday July 1st and Saturday August 5th. The Wilson Tobs enter their 27th season as a founding member of the Coastal Plain League. The upcoming season for the Tobs will see an expanded community outreach effort, increased participation in helping the less fortunate, a Pettit Cup Championship team, and a fan experience like you have never seen. We would like to dedicate each successful season to the Wilson Community, Coastal Plain League Organization, Host Families, Corporate Partners, and the Dedicated Fans throughout the city of Wilson. The Wilson Tobs have played host to over 100 alumni taken in the draft and have produced a dozen players who have gone on to play in the MLB, including Cy Young & MVP winner Justin Verlander.
