Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Add Two Preseason Games

WILKES-BARRE, PA. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have added two preseason games (one home and one away) against the Binghamton Senators to their 2005 preseason schedule, it was announced today. The additional contests, which will be played on September 30 in Binghamton and October 1 in Wilkes-Barre, bring the total to six preseason games for the Penguins.

Additionally, the Penguins announced that their road game against the Syracuse Crunch on Tuesday, September 27 will now be played at 7:00 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to take place at 11:00 a.m.

During the preseason, the Penguins will be competing against the Crunch and the Senators in the second annual "I-81 Puck Cup" Tournament. The preseason tournament, a round-robin challenge, will have each team playing the other two in a home-and-home series. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament will be presented with the "I-81 Puck Cup" Trophy. The Penguins, who posted a 3-1-1-0 preseason record in 2004, finished second in the tournament to Binghamton.

The Penguins will open their 2005 preseason schedule on Saturday, September 24 when they visit the Hershey Bears at 7:00 p.m. at the Giant Center. The Penguins will make their first appearance on home ice this season when they host the Bears at Wachovia Arena on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 5:05 p.m.

The Penguins continue their preseason schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when they visit the Syracuse Crunch at 7:00 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The Pens will then host the Crunch at home on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7:05 p.m.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will close out the six-game preseason schedule with the two games against the Senators. The Pens will visit Binghamton on Friday, Sept. 30 and then host the Senators at Wachovia Arena on Saturday, October 1 in their final preseason match-up before the Oct. 5 opener vs. Bridgeport.

Season ticket and group packages for the 2005-06 season are on sale now. The Penguins offer full season, 22-game, 12-game and 10-ticket flex book packages.
