The Wilderness won their weekend series against Coulee Region two game to one. It was Military Appreciation weekend sponsored by Northwoods Credit Union which featured specialty jerseys that were auctioned off over the weekend. 100% of the net proceeds from the auction will be donated to Local Military Families.
Thursday Recap:
The offense Thursday night was lead by a 2 goal performance by Eric Brenk. Coulee scored the first two goals of the night in the first period by Mac Jansen and Cam Bleck. Brenk scored next, (5:45) assisted by Billy Exell. His next goal (19:16) was also assisted by Billy Exell. The Chill scored in the second period to take a 3-2 lead that would hold for the final score. Wilderness goalie Kasimir Kaskisuo had 17 saves on 20 shots.
Friday Recap:
Frank Oplinger got the start in net Friday night and had 23 saves on 24 shots. Alex Fredberg had the first goal on the night for the Wilderness (2:37) in the first period. Fredberg's goal was assisted by Nolan Culver and Brent Bockman. The Chill's Jesse Tredinnick scored the lone goal on the night for Coulee Region. Jaycob McCombs scored on a power play in the first period (5:32) assisted by Darian Romanko. No scoring in the second period. Daniel Litchke had an empty netter in the third period (19:18) assisted by Brent Bockman and Richard Buri.
Saturday Recap:
Kasimir Kaskisuo was back in net for Saturday's game and finished with 31 saves on 32 shots. Jaycob McCombs added his second goal of the series, scoring in the first period (5:37) assisted by Johno May and Darian Romanko. The Wilderness dominated the second period with two goals from Darian Romanko and one from Eric Brenk. Romanko's first goal (5:15) was assisted by Kasimir Kaskisuo. Scoring his second goal on the night, Romanko at (14:46) assisted by Jakob Romo and Richard Buri. Scoring on a power play, Brenk (17:25) assisted by Jakob Romo and Thomas Lindstrom. That was Brenk's third goal in the weekend series. Saturday's win secured home ice for the Wilderness in the first round of the playoffs.
