
Wilde, Jenkins, Prospect Turcotte Named to USA Hockey World Jr. Summer Selection Camp

SAGINAW, MI - USA Hockey announced Thursday the 44 players invited to take part in their annual World Junior Summer Selection Showcase Camp held at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan from July 26-Aug. 3. Among those 44 players are current Spirit roster members Bode Wilde and Blade Jenkins. Also named to the roster is Spirit 2017 second round pick, Alex Turcotte.
The players invited will be auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete at the 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2019- Jan. 5, 2020 in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.
Wilde, 19, led all Spirit defenseman in scoring during the 2019-20 season, finishing with 70 points. That total put him in the top three in scoring among defenseman in the entire Ontario Hockey League. The Plymouth, MI native was selected in the second round, 41st overall by the New York Islanders in the 2018 NHL Draft. At the conclusion of the 2018-19 season, Wilde was named an OHL second team All-Star. Wilde has represented Team USA at the World Under-17 Hockey Championships and the 2018 Under-18 World Junior Championship.
Jenkins, 18, saw career-highs in goals (23), assists (36), points (59), and plus/minus (+10) during the 2018-19 season. The Jackson, Michigan native was also selected by the Islanders in the 2018 NHL Draft, going in the fifth round, 134th overall. Jenkins has represented the United States in the World Under-17 Hockey Championships and the Hlinka Gretzky Cup
Turcotte, 18, played the 2018-19 season in the United States Hockey League for the United States National Team Development Program and the U.S. Under-18 National Team. Turcotte is primed to be a top pick in the 2019 NHL Draft coming up this weekend. The Island Lake, Illinois native is ranked fourth among North American Skaters on the final rankings of the NHL Central Scouting list.
