San Diego Wildcats News Release


San Diego, CA - The San Diego Wildcats of the American Basketball Association (ABA) defeated the San Francisco Rumble Saturday, December 8th, 2007 at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center. The San Diego Wildcats who reign on top of the ABA Western Conference undefeated at 10-0 continue to play with overt confidence and intensity. The san Diego Wildcats would like all of San Diego to come out and show their support for the magnificent basketball team.

The San Diego Wildcats came into the game looking to augment the number of wins on their spotless record. Cardell "Ballaholic" Butler began the scoring for the Wildcats from beyond the arc. Leonard Mosley than tipped in two off an offensive rebound attempt. Jerome Habel was very productive for the Wildcats in the first quarter as he and scored for the Wildcats and acquainted himself with the Rumble players on the defensive end contesting several Rumble early shots. A Cardell Butler slam dunk tied the Wildcats and the Rumble at 9 and after a Butler steal and assist, Marc Carter gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game with a score of 12 to 9 with 4:44 to go in the first. Leonard Mosley accelerated the pace of the game for the Wildcats as he was all over the floor, after intercepting a Rumble pass Mosley was fouled by a Rumble defender as he in the midst of completing a lay-up. With 3:27 to go in the first the score was 17-10 Wildcats. Michael McNair also scored two points for the Wildcats. At the end of one the score was 24-14 Wildcats.

Prentice Harris scored three for the Wildcats to open the second quarter. Malcolm Battles was the Wildcats go to player early in the second as he scored for the Wildcats on two consecutive possessions and was dominant on the defensive end. With 8:23 to go in the first half the score was 35-21 Wildcats. Jerome Habel scored deep in the paint for the Wildcats with a nice left hand lay-up. Jamal Kendrick scored for the Wildcats with a 16-foot jumper. The Rumble began to cut in to the Wildcats lead late in the second. With 4:24 to go in the half the Wildcats lead was cut to seven. 43-36 Wildcats. Cardell "Ballaholic" Butler scored from all areas of the floor. Mosley and Butler assisted a Habel dunk. Butler ended the half scoring for the Wildcats. At half time the score was 54-40 Wildcats.

Cardell "Ballaholic" Butler began the second half like he began the first quarter scoring for the Wildcats from beyond the arc. Following Butler's triple the Wildcats struggled to find the basket as several jump shot attempts danced all around the rim but failed to fall through the net. Leonard Mosley scored two off the dribble underneath the rim and increased the Wildcats score. With 7:52 to go in the third quarter the score was 61- 47 Wildcats. The San Francisco Rumble tried to stay with the Wildcats and hastened their efforts on both ends of the floor with 5:44 to go in the third the score was 61-52 Wildcats. Jerome Habel continued to be a governing force for the Wildcats as he scored a deuce. Prentice Harris then drilled a three from the wing. With 2:59 to go in the third the score was 68-57 Wildcats. At the end of three the Wildcats led the Rumble 72-61.

Cardell "Ballaholic" Butler continued scoring for the Wildcats early in the fourth. Yet, the Wildcats struggled on the offensive end of the floor as they struggled to take care of the ball and settled for taking shots from the perimeter instead of penetrating to the basket. In an early time out in the fourth frustration was apparent between the Wildcat players. With 7:47 to go the score was 76-72 Wildcats. Kendrick, Battles, and Mosley were the Wildcats voice of inspiration during a time out. With 7:18 to go in the game the Wildcats went with Clark, Mosley, Battles,. Kendrick, and Butler. The Rumble battled back and came with in two of the Wildcats with 6:47 to go in the game the score was 76-74. The Wildcats continued to turn the ball over until a Jamal Kendrick slam-dunk and jump shot. The Wildcats then went on a 8-0 scoring run late in the fourth with Prentice, and Kendrick scoring off Butler assists. With 4:32 to go in the game the Wildcats had regained control of the game with a score of 84-75.After coming with in minutes of losing their first game at home and season, Malcolm Battles instructed his teammates from the bench to take their time and use the clock. With 3:05 to go in the game the Wildcats were in full control of the game tempo 85-75. Leonard Mosley scored for the Wildcats with a jumper from the free-throw line. At the end of the game the Wildcats had improved to 10- 0 as they defeated the Rumble with a score of 93-86.

Jamal Kendrick was the San Diego Wildcats player of the game and Cardell "Ballaholic" Butler was the Wildcats leading scorer.

December 15,2007 the Wildcats will host the Maywood Buzz at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center.
