Wildcats honor Lee County's Joey Harris with Ironman Award

ALBANY, GA- Lee County High School senior running back Joey Harris was awarded the 2005 Ironman of the Year Award by the South Georgia Wildcats arenafootball team.

"Joey is a great leader on and off the field," Trojans head coach David Johnson said. "He really stepped up his senior season and was a key factor to our success this year."

Harris rushed for 749 yards on 95 attempts and 11 touchdowns while leading the Trojans to a 10-2 record and a regional championship. He also recorded 35 receptions for 536 yards and eight touchdowns. It was the first time in school history the football team finished with 10 victories.

During his senior season, Harris earned All-Metro First Team, All-Area First Team and Honorable Mention All-State by The Albany Herald. He was voted by the Thomasville County Times as All- Region Athlete and earned Honorable Mention by the Waycross Journal.

The Arena Football League is entering its 20th season and the South Georgia Wildcats are entering their second season in Albany, GA.
