South Georgia Wildcats News Release
ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats announced today that General Manager, Darren McPhail, will be leaving the team effective January 30th. Darren will be the Assistant General Manager for the Southern Miss ISP Sports Network.
McPhail spent one season with the Cape Fear Wildcats and then moved to Albany when the team was sold and relocated. During his four years with the South Georgia Wildcats, Darren held various titles and responsibilities before being promoted to his current position, General Manager, in June of 2006.
"Leaving the Wildcats is not an easy decision, but college sports has always been my passion," said General Manager Darren McPhail. "ISP Sports is the leader in their industry and this is an opportunity that will greatly enhance my career. I would like to thank our owners for the opportunity and experience they've afforded me. Most of all, I would like to thank all Wildcats fans for their continual support."
Will Carter, the Wildcats VP of Operations, will now assume all football operations responsibilities. Will is entering his fifth year in Arena Football and his third in South Georgia so his experience and qualifications will greatly benefit the Wildcats during this transitional period.
Since becoming Managing Partner in November, Silvio Fazzini has been directly involved in the business management of the Wildcats. Silvio will use the next few weeks as an opportunity to bring in a management consultant that will assist the Wildcats front office prepare for the 2009 season.
"First of all, Ed and I appreciate the hard work and dedication Darren has shown to the South Georgia Wildcats and we think he will be a valuable asset to ISP Sports," said Managing Partner Silvio Fazzini. "As I continue to increase my role on the business side, I'm confident in Will's abilities to keep the football side moving smoothly."
The Wildcats open their home schedule Saturday March 28th against the Florida Firecats. Season tickets are still available by contacting the Wildcats box office at 229-435-2TIX. Don't miss out on the action!
