Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
WICHITA FALLS, TX - Like last night, the IceRays and Wildcats would decide this game in a shootout, and Wichita Falls came through again by taking a 3-2 win on Saturday night inside the Kay Yeager Coliseum.
After no scoring in the first period, Nick Farmer deked Dillion Kelley in net for the IceRays and slid the puck underneath him for a 1-0 lead just 2:40 into the second.
The IceRays struck back at the 5:56 mark. Andrew Paras took a off-angle shot from the right circle. The original stop was made by Cowley however, John Grebosky was waiting for the rebound to tie the game at one.
Just over midway through the period, Oliver Janzen beat Kelley on the power-play to regain the one goal lead with 8:21 remaining in the period.
Like they did earlier in the period, Corpus Christi answered back on the power-play. Phil Pietroniro fired a shot from the point top shelf on Cowley with only 2:04 left in the middle frame to tie the game one again, this time at two.
No goals were scored in the third so once again both teams went to overtime. And again, after nothing was decided in overtime, the Wildcats won the shootout 3-2 and took the game by a final of 3-2 as well.
The IceRays finished with 28 shots on net and Dillon Kelley stopped 35 of 37 attempts.
The IceRays home opener is this upcoming weekend against the Topeka Roadrunners. Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on Sportsjuice.com, the TuneIn Radio APP, and fasthockey.com.
