South Georgia Wildcats News Release
The South Georgia Wildcats and Florida Fircats traded touchdowns in the first half but in the 2nd half the Wildcats would hold Florida to 15 points and their offense could not be stopped in route to a 56-41 victory Saturday night.
In his first full game in arena football South Georgia rookie QB Darnell Kennedy completed 62% of his passes for 250 yards throwing for 6 touchdowns and rushing for two more while leading the Wildcats to touchdowns on every one of their offensive possessions. Alvance Robinson led all Wildcats receivers with 5 receptions for 79 yards and 4 touchdown grabs.
Chris Wallace finished the night for Florida completing 68% of his passes for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns but was sacked in the 3rd quarter by South Georgia LB Kinny Spotwood forcing a long field goal that was missed and threw a 4th quarter interception into the hands of the Wildcats Kelvin Dickens deep in South Georgia territory. Chris McKinney led Florida with 8 receptions for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns.
With the win the Wildcats improve to 2-0 in the 2009 season while Florida falls to 0-2. South Georgia will play on the road next week in Oklahoma City as they face off against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.
