Corpus Christi Sharks News Release
Corpus Christi TX, - The Sharks opened the 2009 season in much the same way they have over the previous two seasons. A slow start, turnovers, and numerous miscues helped the visiting Dorado's to a 40-33 victory. The Sharks had an opportunity to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but Sharks QB Gary Cooper threw his third pick of the night to end the threat.
Rookie Nick Hill was impressive in his Rio Grande Valley Debut throwing for 328 yards and 6 touchdowns earning Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game Honors, while Dorado's WR Rod Windsor walked away with the Cutters Catch of the Game with his 12 yard TD reception that ended up being the difference.
The Sharks will look to work out some of their kinks from Saturday nights game before they head to Bossier Shreveport next week to play the Battle Wings.
