Wildcats add three receivers, defensive specialist to roster

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats have been assigned wide receiver/defensive back Adrian Cockfield, offensive specialists Shannon Gainey, Rodney Woodham and defensive specialist Montrail Pittman by the arenafootball2 league office.

Cockfield, (5-10, 185 pounds), a graduate of Albany State University, led the af2 with 126 receptions last season with the Columbus Wardogs. In 16 games with the Wardogs, he totaled 1,466-yards (sixth in af2) and 30 touchdowns. On the defensive side, he had 23 tackles (19 solo), one interception and four pass break-ups. In 2004, Cockfield was named to the af2's American Conference first team. In two seasons in the af2, he has 203 receptions for 2,190-yards and 36 touchdowns along with 47 tackles (34 solo), one interception and seven pass break-ups.

Gainey, (6-1, 195 pounds), saw action in five games with the Greensboro Prowlers in 2003. He had 11 catches for 159-yards and four touchdowns and added six tackles. Gainey played his college ball at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina. In four seasons with the Blue Bears, he totaled 93 receptions for 1,510-yards and 10 touchdowns. He also returned 39 punt returns for 345-yards and 50 kick-off returns for 1,113-yards.

Woodham, (5-7, 165 pounds), enters his third season in af2. In 2001, he split time between the Peoria Pirates and Columbus Wardogs. In 12 games, he recorded 46 catches for 541-yards and seven touchdowns. In 2000, Woodham totaled 85 receptions for 1,074-yards and 23 touchdowns for the Pensacola Barracudas. He also returned six kick-off returns for touchdowns.

Pittman, (5-10, 190 pounds), returns for his second season with the Wildcats. Pittman did not record any stats with the Wildcats in 2004.

The Wildcats are entering their fourth season in the arena football league and their first in Albany, Georgia. The Wildcats will kickoff the 2005 season against in-state rival Macon Knights on April 9th at the Albany Civic Center. Wildcats season tickets are now on sale starting at just $70.
