South Georgia Wildcats News Release

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats announced today that the af2 league office has assigned QB Walter Washington to the Wildcats roster.

Washington started his career at Dodge City CC in Kansas. After being named a first team NJCAA All American, he enrolled at Temple University to complete his college career. During his Sophomore and Junior seasons, Walter combined to pass for 3,472 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 1,468 yards and 21 toucdowns. He was named 2nd team All Big East after both seasons. He totaled 3,096 yards of offense as a Junior which led the Big East Conference on his way to being named Big East Player of the Year by College Football News.

"Walter is one of the most athletically gifted QB's I've ever seen," said Head Coach Derek Stingley.

After his junior season, Washington declared for the 2005 NFL Draft. After going undrafted, he attended numerous NFL camps including a stint with the Washington Redskins.

"When Walter came out of college, he was considered one of the top 15 QB's in the '05 Draft, but for whatever reason he didn't stick in the NFL. I believe his ability to run and pass makes him a perfect fit for arena football," said Head Coach Derek Stingley.

Wildcats season tickets are a great idea for the Holidays and are available now by contacting the Wildcats office at 229-435-0205 or the Box Office at 229-435-2TIX.
