
Wild To Play Colorado On Saturday With Familiar Face Returning

For the second time this season, the Wichita Wild and Colorado Ice will do battle in a match-up of Central Division rivals. The Wild won the previous meeting by a score of 54-40 at Hartman Arena or March 20. Kickoff from Fort Collins is set for 8:05 PM Central. The game can be heard LIVE on 1330-AM KNSS.
The Wild enter the game with a 5-3 record and sit in second place in the Central Division. With six games to play in the regular season the Wild lead Omaha by two games for the final playoff spot in the United Conference. The Ice currently sit at 0-8 on the season.
During the week, Wichita signed a kicker with previous experience playing for the Wild. Ziya Gunay is returning for his second stint with the Wild. Gunay played for the Wild from 2007 to 2008 and the Wichita Aviators in 2006. He went 27-of-35 on PAT's and 10-of-64 on field goals in 2008.
The Wild return home on May 22 for a game with the San Angelo Stampede. San Angelo and Wichita are both considered to be in the top tier of the league. Wichita last played in Colorado on May 10, 2008. The Wild won 35-31 and it was the first game coached by Wild GM Mike McCoy who took over as interim head coach in the week leading up to the game.
The Wild's current two-game losing streak is tied for their longest since 2008. The Wild also lost two games in a row on April 18 and 25 of 2009.
Colorado has allowed the second most points in the IFL this season. The Ice has allowed 422 points which is an average of 52.4 per game.
With 108 passing yards, Wild QB Dixie Wooten will break the team's single season passing yards record. The record is currently held by Derek Rasmussen who passed for 1,168 yards in 2009.
Wild kicker Ziya Gunay will get his first start for the Wild since he played for the team in 2008. Gunay holds the Wild record for longest field goal as he nailed two from 50-yards away in 2008. His last 50-yarder came vs. Omaha on May 31, 2008.
