Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, Pa. - AJ Bogucki tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in his start, as the Wild Things won a rain-shortened affair in the middle game against Joliet Saturday at Wild Things Park. The final was 3-0 after rain stopped play heading to the home sixth.
Joliet was unable to crack Bogucki, who went to 2-1 with the win, as he logged 5.1 scoreless with a new career-best eight strikeouts. He walked three and allowed only two hits.
Washington scored a run in the first on an error by third baseman Riley Krane for the Slammers before adding a run on a wild pitch in the fourth and on a fielder's choice RBI for Blake Adams in the fifth.
After allowing a double to put two in scoring position, Bogucki was relieved by BJ Sabol, who struck out the next two batters to get the Wild Things out of the inning, with the 3-0 lead in tact.
That's when storms began and after one hour and two minutes of a delay, the game was called and went final.
The two teams lock horns for the rubber game of the series tomorrow at 5:35 p.m. at Wild Things Park. Right handed pitchers will square off in the game, as Michael Austin will work for the Wild Things against Joliet's Daren Osby.
