
Wild Things Drop the First in Best-of-Three Series to Gateway 7-3

Washington, PA -- The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, lost game one of a best-of-three Frontier League semi-final to the Gateway Grizzlies Monday evening by the score of 7-3 at Falconi Field.
Gateway jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The Wild Things answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning when Jon Cahill singled in Zach Cates and J.P. Schmidt. Two batters later, Jake Bollig singled home Cahill.
The Grizzlies took the lead back by scoring two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth and then put the game out of reach with a Todd Oetting two-run home run in the top of the ninth off Wild Thing reliever Bake Leonards.
Adam Jahnsen picked up the win for Gateway and Dave Bradley took the loss for Washington.
The Wild Things now travel to Sauget, Illinois to face the Grizzlies in game two Thursday night and game three Friday if necessary.
