Washington Wild Things News Release

WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, closed the deal by winning the third game of the series with a 10-3 victory.

It was the Wild Things' bats that continued to be the story. Led by Brian Stoecklein's solid performance, the Wild Things put up their second straight game in which they have scored ten runs or more. Stoecklein's 3-for-5 night got him on base to score three runs against the Florence pitching staff.

Bill Greenwell also had a great night as he scored two runs and hit a two run homerun as part of a five run fifth inning that seemed to put away the Freedom.

Matt Powell improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season and retired 13 of 15 Florence batters between the first and sixth inning. Powell registered 4 Ks on the night. Jim Popp came in to register his second save of the season pitching three scoreless innings giving up only one hit while striking out five.

Joel Posey's first professional start was a rough one. His first loss came after pitching five innings and giving up six earned runs with one walk and five strikeouts.

The Wild Things are now 19-2 All-Time against the Florence Freedom and have won 9 games in a row.

The Wild Things put on a show in front of a season in front of the largest audience this season at 4,182 (not to mention the fans watching on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh).

Next the Wild Things will travel to Richmond to play the Roosters. Scheduled for Washington is Matt McDonnell (4-2) for Sunday while Richmond has yet to determine their starter.
