
Wild Take Down Killer Bees with 3-2 Shootout Final

Tonight marked the last time the Killer Bees and the Wild will go head to head in competition, and to go out with a bang, Wenatchee ended things off with a well deserved 3-2 shootout win. Prominent Wenatchee skaters David Powlowksi and Troy Conzo carried the team to the shootout win when they both beat Rio Grande Valley goaltender Ben Johansson for the necessary game winning point. Following their reputation for highest attended team in the NAHL, 3,381 Wenatchee Wilds fans filled the Town Toyota Center to watch a very valiant game played by the home team. With this win, Wenatchee will climb to 14 total points and 6th place in the NAHL South Division.
Following a fierce 20 minutes, there was no scoring in the first period.
Rio Grande Valley was first to put points on the board in the second period with an unassisted power play goal at 4:01 from Kyle Stephan. Wenatchee's Chris Jones followed in close pursuit with a goal of his own at 5:10 also with assists for Ivan Bondarenko and Stevie Bryant. The Killer Bees stung back at 15:31 trying to take the lead going into the third period with a goal from Chris Deprez and an assist for Parker Wood. Wenatchee bit back however, with 4 seconds remaining before the end of the middle frame, when Ryan Gotelaere found the back of Rio Grande Valley's net. Help came from Tyler Rockwell and Brendan Harris.
Going into the third period tied a two, there was no scoring in the last period of regulation time.
To force things even further, there was no scoring in the overtime period resulting in a shootout.

Five penalties were called on the Wild and they went to Colin Burston (Tripping), Anthony Mangano (Boarding), Shane Cuckovich (Checking from Behind) (Checking from Behind ((Misconduct)), and Mitch Demario (Tripping). Rio Grande Valley and Wenatchee had even shots on goal at 25 each. The Wild had a shot record of 6-6-10-2-1 whereas Rio Grande Valley had a shot record of 6-10-7-2-0.
Zach Quinn was in the cage for Wenatchee and was able to stop 23 out of 25 total shots.
After this victorious win, Coach Littler said, "Nice rebound for us. Played hard against a very physical and well coached team."
The next time the Wild be in game mode, they will find themselves taking on the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in Fairbanks on November 13th-15th. All three games will start at 7:30 pm PST. Don't miss out on these rivalry packed match ups!
