Wenatchee Wild News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.) stopped all 15 shots he faced to lead the Wenatchee Wild to a 4-0 shutout win over the Fresno Monsters Saturday night at the Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif. The win gave the Wild (23-15-2) a split in its 2-game series against the Monsters this weekend.
Jaeger improved his record to 16-9-2 with the win, and the shutout was his third of the 2010-11 season. Fresno netminder Tom Conlin made 29 saves on 33 shots.
Michael Di Puma (Chicago, Ill.) staked the Wild to an early lead near the midpoint the first period when he tapped in a rebound off of Zachary Wallace's (Burbank, Calif.) wrist shot from the slot. Blake Saylor (Centennial, Colo.) earned the second assist.
Wenatchee scored two goals in the second stanza, extending its lead to 3-0. Eliot Grauer's (Mukioteo, Wash.) goal at 7:55 came on a backhander from the slot on a feed from Matt Cope (Lakewood, Colo.). Evan Schmidbauer (Surrey, BC) also assisted. Ben Carey (Centennial, Colo.) made it a 3-goal game 2:49 after Grauer scored when he lit the lamp on a wrister from the slot. Brennen Parker (Villa Park, Calif.) and Tyler Hope (McKinney, Texas) assisted.
Grauer's second goal of the contest came during a power play with just over six minutes remaining in the final frame on a wrist shot from the near faceoff dot that found the top right corner of the cage. Carey and Hope assisted.
Nine Wild players recorded at least one point in the win. Grauer (2G), Carey (1G, 1A) and Hope (2A) led the way with two points apiece. Wenatchee scored one man-advantage goal on seven opportunities while Fresno went 0-for-4.
The Wild will return to Wenatchee to take on the Texas Tornado at the Town Toyota Center next weekend (Jan. 28-29). Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
