
Wild Power Past Monsters: Winning Streak Extended to Five Games

WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild scored threepower-play goals Saturday in the process of defeating the Fresno Monsters, 4-1.The win pushed the Wild's winning streak to a season-high five games.
Defenseman MichaelLant (Suwanee, Ga.) scored two of the Wild's power-play markers. The firstbrought the nearly 4,000 fans in attendance to their feet 3:54 into the firstperiod on a wrist shot from the middle of the blue line. Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.) and Chris Kerr (Penticton, British Columbia) assisted.
Lant made is 2-0 near the middle of the second frame when helit the lamp on a one-timer from the near point after receiving a D-to-D feedfrom Kyle Huson (Parker, Colo.).
Blake Roubos(Niagara Falls, Ontario) netted the Wild's third power-play marker of thecontest 2:25 into the third period to give the Wild a 3-0 cushion when hebanged in a rebound. Jacob Barber(Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) and TraceRedmond (McKinney, Texas) assisted.
The Monsters pushed back and cut the Wild lead back to 3-1on Ryan Doner's goal. Lukle Sandler and Dominic Valencia picked up the assists.Fresno would get no closer, however, and Barber tacked on an unassisted empty-netterwith 18 seconds remaining in regulation.
Robert Nichols(Dallas, Texas) turned aside 16-of-17 shots to earn his 20th win ofthe season. Tomas Sholl made 39 saves on 42 shots for the Monsters.
Lant became the first Wild defenseman to score two goals inone game this season. Barber scored a goal and added an assist.
The Wild (29-15-5) will go fortheir third straight 2-game sweep Sunday when they host the Monsters (21-19-9)at the Town Toyota Center. Faceoff is set for 5:05 p.m.
