Wild Falls to Odessa

Wenatchee Wild News Release
The Odessa Jackalopes have rolled into Wenatchee for a two game series against the Wild and watching the first game of the series, the second match up is going to be an all out battle. Odessa played a very physical game but the Wild had very good defense that grew exponentially throughout the game. The Wild put the first point on the board, and even though Odessa won this game 3-2, Wenatchee out shot the Jackalopes in every period. Odessa goaltender Robin Johansson was the pivotal point in the Jackalope's victory, but I believe that now that the Wild skaters know what they are up against, they will rack up the points in tonight's match up. I do have to point out as well that Jake Ahlgren, who is currently the Wild's point leader, has a very large role in making very important plays happen for he and his team mates. It will be very interesting to see how Ahlgren will play the ice tomorrow night and how the team will strive for the win. Wenatchee's physical game was outstanding and the team would never turn down an opportunity to work the boards or to throw in some huge checks here and there. In my opinion, the team played very strong throughout every period. They will definitely be bringing out the best of the best. The gloves were not dropped in this game, but if the aggression and chippiness of the players continues through to tonight, there is a definite possibility that this will be an enforcer's game.
In the first period there was no scoring.
Jake Ahlgren started the scoring game at an amazing 30 seconds into the second period. David Powlowski and Mitch Demario helped get Wenatchee on the board. One of the point leaders from Odessa, Derek Brown, got the Jackalopes in the fight for points at 5:16 into the middle frame on a power play. Kenny Hausinger and #19 Razmuz Waxin-Engback were credited with the assists. At 5:58, Odessa Jackalopes skater #3 Rhys Phelps gave Odessa a one goal lead. The assist was given to #25 Chad Guderian.
Odessa scored their final point of the game 53 seconds into the third period from the stick of Razmuz Waxin-Engback. #23 Hampus Sjodahl and #7 Andreas Soje assisted on this goal. Wenatchee's #4 Ryan Gotelaere lit the lamp for the last time in this match up 13 minutes and 9 seconds into the third period. Help came in the form of Tyler Rockwell.
The Wild took only two penalties during this game. They were Head Contact (Anthony Mangano) and Roughing (Anthony Mangano).
Forbes Ploszaj was in the cage for the Wild last night and he saved 16 out of 19 shots total. Jake Ahlgren and Ryan Gotelaere were the second and third Stars of the Game.
After the game, Coach Bliss Littler stated, "We played very well for the most part. A few turnovers cost us. It is a learning process. I thought we had the better of the chances."
The final game of this match up will be tonight at 7:05 pm (PST) at the Town Toyota Center. Make sure to get your tickets, tune in on the radio, or watch on FASTHockey because this is going to be an out of this world game full of huge physical plays and amazing goals. If you are in Wenatchee, go support your Wild!
