Wild Corrals Third Straight Win with 4-1 Victory in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Tex., - The Iowa Wild (17-18-2-1, 37 points) defeated the San Antonio Rampage (16-19-2-0, 34 points) 4-1 in front of 7,106 fans on Friday night at the AT&T Center. Forwards Sam Anas and Jeff Hoggan scored seven minutes apart in the second period propelling Iowa to its third straight win. Anas and Mario Lucia each finished with two points in the victory. Forwards Christoph Bertschy and Zack Mitchell also scored helping Iowa improve to 9-7-2-0 on the road this season. Iowa goalie Alex Stalock (11-10-2) stopped 30 shots for the win. Rampage goalie Jeremy Smith (1-6-1) stopped 17 of 21 in defeat. Iowa concludes a five-game road trip in San Antonio at 7 PM on Saturday.

Wild forward Christoph Bertschy broke open a scoreless first period with the game's first goal at 18:22. Wild forward Grayson Downing flipped a high lofty pass out of the Iowa zone. Bertcshy chased down the puck and got in front of the Rampage defender for a breakaway. He snapped his sixth goal of the year over the glove of Jeremy Smith for the 1-0 lead. Rookie Mario Lucia added an assist on the game's first goal.

In the second period, Iowa expanded its lead at 5:36 as Sam Anas made it 2-0 Wild. Defenseman Dylan Labbe held the puck in the Rampage zone, slipping a pass to Anas on the left-wing wall. Anas shifted around traffic and snapped a wrist shot past Smith for his fifth goal of the season. Defenseman Zach Palmquist added an assist on Anas' goal. Iowa made it 3-0 at 12:36 as Jeff Hoggan finished off a play for his fifth goal of the season. Defenseman Mike Reilly played the puck down low for center Pat Cannone. He stickhandled and snuck a pass to the back post for Hoggan who finished off the play. The Rampage got on the scoreboard at 15:46 when Rocco Grimaldi and AJ Greer set up J.T. Compher's 10th goal of the year for a 3-1 deficit after two periods of play.

Iowa regained its three-goal lead at 6:56 of the third period off a power-play goal by Zack Mitchell. The goal was set up after some nifty passing. Anas went down low to Lucia, who gave a one-touch pass to Mitchell in the slot. He beat Smith for his fourth goal of the year and a 4-1 final score.

Iowa wraps up a five-game road trip on Saturday and returns home on Monday, Jan. 16 for the first-ever meeting with the San Diego Gulls at 7 PM. It is a Free Parking Monday (until the IEC lots are full, sponsored by Nash Icon and KGGO. Fans may purchase a hotdog for $2 at the game. Those that bring a Subway receipt may purchase a $5 ticket. The team continues a four-game home stand with a Winning Wednesday on Jan. 18 at 7 PM with the Grand Rapids Griffins. If the Wild wins, all fans in attendance will be handed a ticket to the game on Feb. 8 upon exit. Those 21 and older may purchase two tallboys for $10. Fans that bring a Subway receipt may purchase a $5 ticket.

Iowa welcomes the Texas Stars for a two games to close out the home stand, starting on Friday. Jan. 20 at 7 PM. The team celebrates Red, White and Blue Night for Military Appreciation, presented by Casey's and Billions Buick. The first 1,500 fans to the game will be handed a Kurtis Gabriel bobblehead, sponsored by Krist Insurance and Nash Icon. Plato's Closet is sponsoring a clothes drive that benefits Central Iowa Shelter and Services. Fans may also enjoy $2 beers, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Patrons may stick around after the game for a postgame skate. Fans may bring their own skates or rent skates for $2 to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Iowa closes out the lengthy home stand with Country Night on Saturday, Jan. 21st at 7 PM. Parmalee headlines Country Night with a postgame concert, presented by Nash FM, Nash Icon, Catch Des Moines, Jim Beam Apple and Gregg Young Chevrolet of Norwalk. Fans may indulge in Jim Beam drink specials, including a $5 Beam Apple Orchard or a $10 Beam Apple Orchard in a mason jar. VIP Packages for the Parmalee show are available starting at $150. The Brewdog pack is also available, which features a beer/hot dog voucher at the game and a voucher for a free drink at Legends Bar and Grill.
