Wild Clash with Kenai in Second Game of Series
February 2, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wenatchee Wild News Release
In their second night in Soldotna, once again the Wild and the Brown Bears went toe to toe, and after the claws were flashed, it would be Wenatchee who would take away a 5-1 win and advance 2-0 in the series. These games are most certainly beginning to heat up, and the third and final match will be expecting the unexpected. Both teams will most likely be pulling out all of the stops in order to remain victorious. Colin Buston and Brendan Harris were the night's 1st and 2nd Stars of the Game.
Troy Conzo would give the Wild their first point of the night four minutes into the first period when he was set up by Stevie Bryant and Chris Jones. Four minutes later, Brendan Harris put the team up 2-0 when he was assisted by Kyle Stephan and Mitch Demario. Ending the first period with a 2-1 score, Jack Gessert scored the Brown Bears' only goal of the night fifteen minutes and thirty one seconds into the period. Assistance came from Maurin Bouvet and Alex Jackstadt.
One minute and seven seconds into the middle frame, Jake Ahlgren put the Wild up 3-1 with his unassisted goal. The last goal of the period would be scored by Colin Burston at the 12:20 minute mark. Colin received help from Brendan Harris and Jake Ahlgren.
Burston scored Wenatchee's fifth and final point ten minutes and twenty four seconds into the final frame. Assists came from Harris and Ahlgren.
The Wild ended the night out shooting the home team 42-20 and only being called on two penalties. Infractions went to Dakota Raabe (Tripping) and Chris Jones (Hooking).
Michael Bullion was Wenatchee's goaltender for the entire 60 minutes and was able to stop 19 shots on goal out of 20.
At the end of the night, Coach Littler stated, "Another good effort all the way around. Have a chance to back it up tomorrow with a good effort."
Looking to bring out the brooms, Wenatchee will return to the Soldotna Sports Center for a third and final time at 7:30 pm AKST on January 31st.
