Odessa Jackalopes News Release
ODESSA, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes, members of the North American Hockey League, announce the trade of captain Chad Guderian to the Lone Star Brahmas in exchange for forward Eric Carreras.
Carreras, 19, was drafted by the Brahmas in the 2014 NAHL Entry Draft. The West Chester, PA native lit up the U18 level with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. In two seasons, Carreras scored 74 points in 76 games. In his rookie campaign with the Brahmas, Carreras has notched 17 points in 32 games with four penalty minutes and a plus nine rating.
Chad Guderian departs the Jackalopes as the franchise's ironman since the move to the NAHL in 2011. Guderian reached his 100th career game with the Jacks on January 24, 2015 and finished his Jackalopes career with 103 games played. Guderian notched 16 points in each of his two seasons in Odessa and notched a hat trick last season for the Jackalopes, lighting the lamp three times in Wichita Falls on January 31, 2014.
"This trade is bittersweet for me," said the former captain. "It's really hard to leave my coaches, teammates, and my billet family in Odessa. I was treated very well here but I am excited for what the future holds with the Brahmas."
Guderian was also grateful for the opportunity to play in the city of Odessa.
"The relationships and the friendships that I have made here in Odessa will last a lifetime. The Jacks organization and the people of Odessa were nothing but good to me over the past two seasons. Their support these past two years has been unbelievable and much appreciated."
Jacks first-year head coach Greg Gatto had high marks for Guderian, as well.
"Chad is one of the best individuals to come through our organization," said Gatto. "This (trade) was especially tough for me because of how good of a person Chad is and how respected he was in our locker room. We wish him the best of luck moving forward."
The Jacks will enjoy the weekend off before returning to action on Friday, February 13 in Wichita Falls, TX.
In 2014-15, the Odessa Jackalopes will embark upon their fourth season in the North American Hockey League and 18th in the Permian Basin. Season tickets are on sale now!
