Wideman Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American Hockey League announced today that Binghamton Senators defenseman Chris Wideman has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 2, 2014.
Wideman scored four goals and tallied one assist for five points in three games last week for the Senators.
On Wednesday night, Wideman scored a goal and recorded a game-high five shots in Binghamton's 3-2 loss to Utica. He came back on Friday with two power-play goals - one in overtime - as the Senators defeated the Comets, 4-3, in the completion of their home-and-home set. And on Saturday, Wideman led Binghamton's offense again with a goal, an assist and five more shots in a 6-3 loss to Syracuse.
Wideman now has points in nine consecutive games, including goals in four straight, and ranks second in the entire AHL in goals (7) and points (13) through 10 contests. A fourth-round pick by Ottawa in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Wideman is in his third professional season and has totaled 18 goals and 64 assists for 82 points in 143 career AHL games with Binghamton. The 24-year-old native of St. Louis, Mo., played four seasons at Miami University before turning pro in 2012.
In recognition of his achievement, Wideman will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Senators home game.
